First Female Governor of Alaska | 2008 Republican Vice Presidential Candidate | Highly Regarded Speaker | Author

We are extremely excited about having Sarah Palin, 2008 Republican Vice Presidential Candidate and Governor of Alaska (2006-2009) as our special guest.
Sarah Palin made history in 2006, when she became the first female and youngest governor of Alaska. In 2008, John McCain chose Governor Palin to serve as his running mate, making her the first woman to run on the Republican Party’s presidential ticket.
Sarah Palin’s family moved to Alaska when she was three months old when her father took a teaching position in Skagway before settling in Wasilla. Sarah Palin grew up as an avid hunter, fisher, athlete, runner, hiker, snowmobile rider and wild game eater.
She has a long record of achievement and experience in public office since entering the political arena in 1992. Prior to her election as governor, she served on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor of Wasilla. In 2006, she was elected as Governor of the State of Alaska. Governor Palin had many successes and accomplishments while serving as governor. Palin was named to TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” list and was included in Barbara Walters’ “Ten Most Fascinating People” list two years in a row.
Sarah Palin married her high school sweetheart, Todd Palin, in 1988 and helps run his family’s commercial fishing business. The Palins have five children and two grandchildren. Their youngest son, Trig, is “special needs” with down syndrome, and Governor Palin is an advocate and brings awareness to the needs of all special needs children and their families. A quote from Governor Palin regarding raising a special needs child, “It’s a sacrifice every parent and caregiver of a child with special needs sympathizes with,” Palin wrote. “Families of children with special needs are bonded by a shared experience of the joys, challenges, fears and blessings of raising these beautiful children whom we see as perfect in this imperfect world.”
Governor Palin travels internationally for speeches. She loves distance running, cooking and road trips with her family. She is a devout Christian who has demonstrated her faith in all areas of her life. As someone who loves the great outdoors, she shares her love of God’s green earth with all she encounters.
