Sarah Palin joined "Extra's" AJ Calloway at our H&M studios in Times Square to talk about her new book, "Sweet Freedom: A Devotional," and weighed in on the presidential race.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate confirmed she has been watching the debates. "I'm all about competition… At least on the Republican side of the aisle, we have a very, very, competitive primary, and that makes everyone work a lot harder and produce a better product for the people as they are competing in the arena of ideas."

She also isn't surprised to see Donald Trump ahead in the polls, saying, "Of course he is. He's not a politician, and that's what we love, that's what normal Americans appreciate. We're really tired of the status quo, people who have been part of the problem, and yet they are now campaigning promising to do something about the problems. Well, Donald Trump, Dr. Carson, Carly, others who haven't been in politics all of their lives, they are refreshing as they are able to explain what some solutions are 'cause it's fresh, it's new."

Though Palin loves politics, she does not think that another vice presidential run is in her immediate future — but she would accept if asked. "There's millions of Americans out there, qualified, ready, willing, and able… I really don't think it's me being asked, but as I say, if I were asked, I'd do it."

When asked if she would return to politics, the 51-year-old responded, "My interest has always been in public service, getting out there, doing all that I can to try and help make the world a better place. If that's a position in politics, I would be willing to bust through that door.

Sarah has been busy spreading the word on her book, revealing, "I have been journaling all my life and wanted to put something together that can help inspire people to get out there and live life vibrantly. Every one of us faces challenges, every one of us has some kind of struggle in our lives… we certainly do as a nation, too, lots of challenges, so putting together verses that come from the Bible that give us solutions, answers to every one of our problems."
