Sarah Palin tore into Bill Nye’s scientific qualifications on Thursday, saying he has no authority to say climate skeptics are wrong.
Palin, the former governor of Alaska and the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, said the man known for his show "Bill Nye the Science Guy," is using his position of authority to harm children by teaching them that climate change is real and man-made.
“Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am,” Palin said at a Capitol Hill event held to roll out a film that aims to discredit climate scientists. “He’s a kids’ show actor, he’s not a scientist.”
Palin said behind the “alarmism” that the climate is changing is a “predetermined” and political agenda “of those, I think, who are controlling the narrative right now on changes in the weather.”
She repeatedly dismissed climate change as changes in weather, and said scientists who believe the consensus that humans are the main cause of global warming are trying to shut down human progress.
Palin encouraged parents to teach their children to doubt climate change and to “ask those questions and not just believe what Bill Nye the Science Guy is trying to tell them.”
Palin, largely unknown on the national stage before the 2008 election, made a name for herself as an outspoken advocate of fossil fuels, repeatedly exclaiming, “Drill, baby, drill!” during the campaign to encourage more oil and natural gas drilling.
She has endorsed Donald Trump in the 2016 election, though she largely shied away from talking about presidential politics Thursday, except to suggest that candidates talk more about the climate change controversy.
“It’s something that our candidates should be talking about, and giving us their view on and hopefully acknowledging that it needs to become, in the science community, less political,” she said. “Otherwise, it leads us to believe that so many things coming from perhaps the scientists could be bogus. If this is bogus, you know, what else are they trying to tell us and trying to control us around if they can’t get this one right?”
Nye is a one of the main targets of the film shown Thursday, known as "Climate Hustle." It stars Marc Morano, head of skeptic blog Climate Depot, and is presented largely as a response to "Merchants of Doubt," a documentary attacking skeptics and comparing them to the tobacco industry.
In an interview with Morano in the film that he highlighted, Nye advocates for investigating people and companies who make a name for themselves doubting climate science.
“The introduction of this extreme doubt … about climate change is affecting my quality of life as a public citizen,” he said. “So I can see where people are very concerned about this and are pursuing criminal investigations as well engaging in discussions like this … they’re keeping us from getting to work, they’re holding us back.”
Palin shot back at the event.
“I’m all about mankind. I want life to be better for mankind and that takes development of our natural resources. That’s what allowed America to become exceptional,” she said.
“If anything, some people would say I’m pushing progress and development too aggressively, certainly not holding anybody back, I want people to work, I want people to produce.”

AP Interview: Palin says voters should decide GOP nominee
1 hour ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sarah Palin says voters will "rise up" in opposition if Republican power brokers try to take the presidential nomination away from Donald Trump or Ted Cruz at the GOP convention this summer.
The 2008 vice presidential nominee told The Associated Press on Thursday that GOP voters have the right to decide the party's nominee and will rebel if House Speaker Paul Ryan or some other "white knight" is chosen at a contested convention. Ryan said this week he will not seek or accept the nomination.
Palin said voters know better than to be fooled by party leaders.
"How dare they?" Palin asked, denouncing "arrogant political operatives who underestimate the wisdom of the people."
If party leaders try to intervene at the July convention, "we will rise up and say our vote does count, our activism does count," she said.
Those who try to thwart the will of the people "are the ones who need to leave," she said. "We don't need to leave."
Palin, who has endorsed Trump, said she is confident he will win the GOP nomination, but that she can support Cruz if he emerges as the nominee.
She said she backs Trump because he is "so reasonable and so full of common sense and knows that for America to be great again we have to develop our natural resources" such as oil and natural gas.
The former Alaska governor was in Washington to promote a new documentary that seeks to debunk what it calls myths and hype about human-caused global warming. The movie, "Climate Hustle," questions whether there is a genuine scientific consensus about global warming and features more than 30 scientists who reject mainstream climate science.
Palin said she wants viewers "to feel empowered to ask questions about what is being fed them by the scientific community." The movie opens May 2.
On other topics, Palin said Ryan has failed as House speaker because he did not ensure that the House approved a budget. And while she said she does not regret staying out of the presidential race, she did not rule out a possible presidential bid in the future.

"Governor Palin To Woo Delegates For Donald Trump In Wyoming"

From BREITBART

Donald Trump is sending Sarah Palin, one of his best political surrogates, to the Wyoming Republican State Convention, in an effort to woo delegates to his campaign.

On Saturday, Wyoming State Delegates will select the remaining 14 delegates to represent the party in Cleveland. Twelve delegates were already selected at party’s county caucuses in March. Three other delegate slots go to the party’s national committeeman, national committeewoman, and the chairman of the Wyoming’s Republican Party.
Trump is anxious to stop the flow of delegates to his rival
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)
97%
. In Colorado, Cruz swept all 34 delegates in the state awarded by congressional district meetings last week.
Cruz, however, begins the Wyoming campaign for delegates already ahead. In March, Cruz earned nine delegates while
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)
78%
and Donald Trump only earned one delegate each. The Texas Senator has already traveled for two campaign events in Wyoming, making it clear that he wanted to compete in the state.
Cruz is expected to speak for himself at the convention while Idaho Gov. Butch Otter will speak for John Kasich.
The race for delegates places an unusual spotlight on the state’s electoral process as each candidate fights for an delegate advantage.
Wyoming has a similar electoral process as Colorado where the remaining delegates to the State convention are selected at a country convention, a process that Trump decried as“crooked.”
But while the absence of a Republican primary in Colorado is fairly new, Wyoming’s Republican party has maintained their delegate selection process for decades.
In an interview with Breitbart News, Wyoming Republican chairman Matt Micheli defended the process, noting that the state had followed the same primary process for presidential nominees since 1974.
According to State Party by-laws, delegates can inform the state convention of the candidate they plan to support, or identify as an unbound delegate. The group of 505 state delegates will participate in the selection process. The process was slightly altered to remove an unbinding straw poll, he explained, a 2012 experiment that was ultimately rejected by the party.
“That straw poll was completely meaningless. It was not bound to anything or anybody,” Micheli said in an interview with Breitbart News.
In 2012, Romney was the victor of the non-binding straw poll, but his campaign and the media chalked it up as a victory for the Republican front runner.
With new focus on the Wyoming process, Micheli said party officials had discussed the details “ad nauseum” and “bent over backwards” to make sure that every candidate felt like they were being treated fairly.
“Our interest is to make sure that this is a fair process, to make sure that all three of those candidates feel that they have access to the same information and the same opportunities,” he said. “For me the single most important thing is that each one of those delegates that were elected to attend this feel like they get to make an important decision.”
